WITH THE RECENT RISE IN MEN’S JEWELRY SALES, ESPECIALLY WEDDING BANDS, WE WERE INTERESTED TO LEARN HOW JEWELRY INNOVATIONS – THE MEN’S WEDDING BAND SPECIALIST – ARE KEEPING UP WITH THE TRENDS, OR SHOULD WE SAY LEADING THEM.
In today’s competitive market, how does a company grow? Jewelry Innovations found the answer: by addressing the ultimate consumer’s interest.
How’s this for an example?
The Barrel Aged Collection™ – wedding rings and wedding bands featuring solid wood inlays from authentic whiskey, wine, and cognac barrels. Hand crafted by skilled jewelers; these beautiful wedding bands can be customized to the needs of your clientele and even inlaid with barrel wood from specific brands of whiskey upon request. Or the National Pastime Collection™, offering rings inlaid with wood from genuine vintage baseball bats. Choose from Hickory, White Ash, and Maple bats in hundreds of styles and finishes. Each ring is hand-crafted and can be made with custom bat wood by request. These are just two of the innovative ways that JI has been helping to grow the men’s jewelry market. What guy wouldn’t be excited to tell the tale of his unique band – not just “yeah – my wife picked it out” but an engaging tale of the wood inlay.
Starting in 1989 as a semi-mount bridal company, Jewelry Innovations evolved to be an innovator using alternative metals. The launch of Serinium® in the late 90s gave the company a foothold in the men’s band business. This ultra-hard high-tech material is hypoallergenic, and will never tarnish, oxidize, or change color. Their styling combined with live product, great customer service, and quick turnaround on orders has paved the way for the company’s success.
For sophisticated consumers looking for wedding rings custom designed and custom handcrafted in contemporary metals, Jewelry Innovations® provides industry leading designs in Serinium Contemporary Metal®, Black Diamond Ceramic™, and Rugged Tungsten™. We are a family-owned manufacturer of fine jewelry in the United States for over 30 years.
The Serinium® Story
“In the late 1990s, we had an idea for something completely new to the jewelry industry. We wanted to develop what we called ‘the perfect contemporary jewelry metal’. Despite the popularity of metals such as tungsten carbide, titanium, and cobalt chromium, there were significant downsides to all of them and major safety concerns.” Donny McIllece, our VP of Product Development, thought we could do better. After years of development in numerous labs, in 2011 Jewelry Innovations filed its patent application for the fine jewelry metal that would come to be called Serinium®. Serinium® combines the best properties of existing metals without any of the drawbacks. It is extremely hard and wear-resistant, like tungsten carbide, but not as brittle. It has a beautiful, white color like cobalt and will not oxidize, tarnish, or change color over time, but unlike cobalt and titanium, it will not crush onto a finger and can quickly and safely be removed in an emergency. It is hypoallergenic and can withstand extremes of heat and impact without damage. For all these reasons, we call Serinium® “The Precious Contemporary Metal”. In 2016 Serinium® was awarded a U.S. Patent for this high-tech metal which is exclusive to Jewelry Innovations.
Why it works:
As a brand, they keep their story simple. Look across their website and social channels and you’ll find unpretentious copywriting alongside great designs made with innovative metals. Here’s a company that hits the target straight on with the combination of interesting themed design concepts + innovative metals + a LIFETIME warranty + excellent customer service. In all aspects of their business, it shows that they care about quality, and their customers – they don’t promise what they can’t deliver and don’t compete with B to C online sales.
What’s on the horizon for Jewelry Innovations?
The Shoreline Collection™ will launch in early 2024 – commemorating themes from the beach, lake, fishing, surfing, sailing, etc. Looks like another home run for Jewelry Innovations, or should we say great catch.
